The clerk behind the desk would scan the records carefully to find a name that was not on the list. Maybe the bank manager would be called to sort out the situation. However, the only thing that he could say to the businessman would be, "You cannot draw interest on money that you have not deposited with us".
How foolish it would be for a businessman to walk into a bank and try to draw the interest on money that he has not deposited there. The clerk behind the desk would scan the records carefully to find a name that was not on the list. Maybe the bank manager would be called to sort out the situation. However, the only thing that he could say to the businessman would be, "You cannot draw interest on money that you have not deposited with us".
Our lives are similar to a bank account. We can only get out what we put in. Sometimes, our prayer life only revolves around our immediate needs, whether they are personal, family or friends. If that is all you are praying for then something is very wrong.
Let me expand this a little. A generous person - generous in prayer, generous in giving, generous in showing love, generous in encouraging others - such a person will prosper and be made rich (not necessarily financially though). He who refreshes others will himself be refreshed (Proverbs 11:25). He who pours out water will have water poured out upon himself. What a wonderful promise from God!
Winter is the time for ploughing, for breaking up the fallow land, so that (in the words of Matthew), it becomes good ground, which will bear fruit and produce a harvest.
Harvest time is a time for gathering in that which has already been sown. It is pay back time for the work already done.
As in the natural, so in the spiritual - the time to pray is now, when you have time and ability, and are not beset with crises. Then, when problems and difficulties surround you, there is a fruitful harvest to be reaped.
Many are so desperately poor in their heavenly bank account because there has been little or no deposit and therefore there is little or nothing to withdraw. Look around and start praying for others, so that others will start praying for you. To reap on a national level, we need to sow on a national level.
You, our prayer partner, are a shareholder in every soul and every nation this ministry touches. Through your giving, prayer and support you are banking and sowing into that heavenly bank account and in prayer we bank prayer for you!
Together we share the harvest!
